Bobby L. Bush Sr. is the son of Teves and Carrie Bush of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Bobby graduated from Nova High School in 1980 and then went on to get an Associates of Art degree from Broward Community College (BCC). After graduating from BCC, he went to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management. Once he graduated from FAU, Bobby went to work for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) as a Human Resource Professional. It was there that Bobby met his wife Gisla in 1991 upon which they were wedded in 1994 and have been remained married since then. In 2001, Bobby became employed with the City of Pompano Beach as a Human Resource Administrator and currently holds that position.

Gisla Bush, the daughter of late William and Bertha Chennault of Tampa, Florida, graduated from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor's of Architecture. Later, she graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a law degree. In 1991, she met her husband, Bobby Bush, and they later married in 1994. Together they decided to have a large family and homeschool their children. Between homeschooling and parenting 9 children, she finds the time to practice law, encourage young adults, and provide consultation to prospective and struggling homeschoolers.
